The Academic Innovation Winter Institute promises to be a transformative event, with a focus on the theme “Exploring Micro-Internships: Your Guide to Understanding and Successfully Implementing Short-Term Work Experiences.”
The event is planned for Jan. 17-18 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the College of Business Administration (Building 162, room 1001) This year’s keynote speaker is Associate Vice President of Academic Innovation Olukemi Sawyerr.
Micro-Internships, which are short-term, paid professional assignments, offer students a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience, settling them on the path to their future careers. They are not merely resume enhancements; they are dynamic preparations for the professional world.
“I am excited about the upcoming winter workshop on micro-internships. The institute will provide faculty and staff with the tools and resources they need to successfully implement micro-internships in their courses and programs. By making micro-internships more accessible to all students, CPP is helping to level the playing field and create a more equitable workforce” said Winny Dong, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research.
The Academic Innovation Winter Institute is set to be a hub of inspiration, collaboration, and professional development. Faculty and staff are invited to explore micro-internships, gain a profound understanding of their benefits to students and discover how to seamlessly integrate them into their syllabi.
Over the course of this two-day institute, a distinguished panel of speakers will delve into the significance of micro-internships, share inspiring success stories, and provide guidance on actively participating in and supporting this initiative. Whether you’re a faculty member interested in incorporating micro-internships into your courses or a staff member eager to facilitate a program, this event will equip you with valuable insights and resources.
Early bird registration for the Academic Innovation Winter Institute is currently open and will close on Friday, Dec. 8. Those who register during this period will be entered in a raffle for a chance to win a basket from the CPP Farm Store. General admission will be available until Friday, Dec. 22.
