Prof. Rachel Blakey: Extreme wildfires increase risky behavior of mountain lions (Scientific American)


Assistant Professor Rachel Blakey, who specializes in climate change biology, is the lead author of a new study that identified extreme wildfires as a significant threat to Southern California mountain lions. After the 2018 Woolsey Fire, the big cats crossed roads more often and exhibited other risky behaviors as they search for new habitats.
