Paving the Way for Justice

Alumnus Gabriel Dima-Smith (’17, government and economics) was featured by CSU News in “Meet 10 Members of the CSU Community Who are Paving the Way for Social Justice.” Growing up, Dima-Smith wasn’t sure he’d go to college, so after finishing high school, he served in the U.S. Army. Later, just one year after starting at CPP, the first-gen student became vice president of ASI. The young man who’d once felt he wasn’t “college material” was gone. “At Cal Poly Pomona, I started believing I could make a difference,” he says. He knows that means a future in public service. “Wherever I feel I can make the most change and impact on people—that is where I am going to be.”
