Book Launch: Keeping Races in Their Places

Anthony W. Orlando, assistant professor in the Department of Finance, Real Estate and Law, exposes mortgage discrimination across American cities in his new book “Keeping Races in Their Places: The Dividing Lines That Shaped the American City.” Spanning the era from the Great Migration to the Great Recession, this book uncovers the roots of the racially divided wealth gap, the subprime lending crisis, and today’s lack of affordable housing. It also offers hope that with the latest tools we can pinpoint how things went wrong—and what we must do to make them right. Orlando will discuss his book on Dec. 2 at noon. Register for this book talk via Eventbrite.
