Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, university services have been modifying how they provide resources to Cal Poly Pomona Students. The University Library now offers contactless pick-up of library and bookstore materials via a new service, Bronco Lockers.
Anticipating the arrival of more people on campus, the addition of Bronco Lockers makes physical materials more accessible in a safer manner to students, faculty and staff. The Bronco Lockers and materials that have been checked out are sanitized after each use by library staff members wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.
Bronco Lockers are located on the south side of the Bronco Bookstore. In order to pick up items from the Bronco Lockers, one must complete a campus health screener and request specific materials beforehand on the library’s OneSearch feature.
Items can be held in the Bronco Lockers for up to three days, and a QR code is used to open the locker holding requested materials. If the lockers are fully booked, library staff will hold requested materials until the first locker becomes available.
In order to return materials picked up from the Bronco Lockers, students can either go to the library or the Student Services Building drive-up book drop located off Red Gum Lane.
Over the past year, the library focused on extending its services to students virtually through online platforms and programming. Bronco Lockers now enable students without stable internet access to use library resources. Students without internet access can also request a laptop or hotspot through the university’s loaner program.
