Interest Surges in Top Colleges, While Struggling Ones Scrape for Applicants


Cal Poly Pomona was featured for its “herculean effort” in calling thousands of prospective students who had started admissions applications but not finished them or who were admitted in an earlier cycle but deferred. That effort to assist students and answer any questions moved admissions from a 40 percent drop in first-time freshman applications to an 8 percent increase over last year.
