Regardless of the effects of COVID-19, there are many opportunities to celebrate Women’s History Month with the Cal Poly Pomona community throughout March.
Cal Poly Pomona’s Womxn’s Resource Center (WRC), Feminist Fight Club and many other organizations on campus are hosting online workshops and virtual support groups throughout the month.
The WRC’s 2021 Virtual Womxn’s Leadership Institute, Trailblaze: Explore and Define Your OWN Path, will take place at 6:45 p.m. on March 19. This year’s keynote speaker is playwright Mitzi Sinnott.
Sinnott is a two-time recipient of the Kentucky Foundation for Women’s Art Meets Activism grant, two-time recipient of the Brooklyn Arts Council Individual Artist grant and Edinburgh Fringe Festival Best Actress Nominee.
Other virtual events to look out for this month include Grrrls Night on March 25 and I am Growing on March 26.
Grrrls Night is an opportunity for womxn to connect, converse and participate in activities in a virtual space. I am Growing is an event that encourages one to reflect on their life and embrace daily growth.
The WRC Community Hour is a recurring gathering every Friday at 4 p.m. through the end of March. During WRC Community Hour, attendees can connect, chat and play games with the WRC student squad.
There is also a weekly Student Parent Support Group on Tuesdays at 12 p.m. for student parents to get some extra support. The WRC is also promoting drop-in hours with its coordinator on Wednesdays at noon.
Be sure to RSVP for these virtual events on MyBar.
