Cal Poly Pomona, an inclusive polytechnic university, and Ganpat University, in Gujarat, India, have entered into a memorandum of understanding to explore joint international programs and initiatives to benefit students, faculty and administrators over the next five years.
Ganpat University (GNU) is a private institution in Kherva, Mehsana in the state of Gujarat. Founded by Ganpat I. Patel, who serves as university president, the campus serves more than 10,000 students in a variety of fields, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs. Mr. Patel graduated from Cal Poly Pomona in 1970 (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) and has played an intricate part of partnering with the College of Engineering at the university throughout the years.
Mr. Patel is a founding member of the Cal Poly Pomona Philanthropic Foundation Board of Directors. In 2015, he was inducted to the College of Engineering’s Hall of Fame and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2018. In 2015, he created a $1 million endowment to help fund the Distinguished Lecture Series and key project labs that serve as the home of the Formula and Baja SAE student design teams.
