Jeanette Phillips has been named director of financial aid and scholarships, effective June 8. In this leadership role, Phillips will report to Jessica Wagoner, senior associate vice president for Enrollment Management and Services.
As the director of financial aid and scholarships, Phillips will provide strategic direction and administrative support to the staff and student-employees in the office of financial aid and scholarships. On average, over sixty-two percent of CPP students receive some form of financial aid each year, which amounts to more than $132 million. Financial Aid allows thousands of eligible Cal Poly Pomona students to receive assistance covering the costs of attending college and reaching their academic and professional goals.
Phillips brings over 25 years of higher education experience, ten of which were in leadership roles in student financial aid services. She brings current knowledge of federal and state laws and policies that govern administering financial aid programs.
Prior to this role, as a consultant, she managed nearly twenty higher education teams through technology and process improvement transformations enabling their units to achieve their operational excellence and modernization goals. Her forward-looking nature, dedication to learning and human-centered approach inspires her team members to be engaged, creative, and resourceful.
She has consistently guided diverse teams to exceed their automation and performance goals, designing for accountability, audit and regulatory compliance mandates, and updating their business processes to enhance the experiences of financial aid students.
