Cable news show Spectrum News 1 aired a feature on Cal Poly Pomona’s Horses for Heroes program on multiple newscasts on Feb. 12. Through the program, 10 student veterans were matched with horses at the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center for the mutual benefit of the horses and the veterans.
Jaime Orozco Campos, a senior majoring in electric engineering, worked with an Arabian horse named Sophie to help her get used to people. In turn, working Sophie was therapeutic for Campos, helping him control his stress levels and become more comfortable as a student at Cal Poly Pomona and in his everyday life.
