To honor Martin Luther King Jr., more than 40 volunteers from Cal Poly Pomona worked on a beautification project at a Los Angeles middle school on Jan. 20.
Students, staff, faculty and family members helped build benches, paint murals and lockers, and beautify the playground area at Orville Wright Middle School.
The Cal Poly Pomona volunteer team was led by the Center for Community Engagement with support from the Kellogg Honors College, Education Opportunity Program, African American Student Center and Project Success.
The event was organized by L.A. Works, a nonprofit that implements community service projects in the greater LA area, and drew more than 1,000 local volunteers.
