In his role, Fairley will collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to advance the mission of the CCE “to ensure student success through community capacity building, the application of knowledge, and global engagement.”
As the CCE lead, Fairley will provide strategic direction, tactical leadership, coordination, and administrative oversight to processes and operations of the CCE. Among other responsibilities, Fairley will collaborate with the CCE staff, faculty, other staff, and faculty/community advisory committees to design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive program to support high quality service-learning, internship, cooperative education and civic engagement opportunities throughout the teaching, learning and scholarship experience of students and faculty that align with the university’s Strategic Plan and Academic Master Plan.
Fairley joins the CCE at Cal Poly Pomona after serving eight years as the associate director of the Center for Community Engagement at CSU San Bernardino. He has extensive experience in developing and implementing community engagement opportunities including Day of Service and International Service-Learning experiences for students and faculty. Fairley has experience developing, coordinating and managing relationships with local, statewide, national and international service-learning partners.
In addition to other roles at CSUSB’s Center for Community Engagement including the service-learning coordinator, Fairley has also served as the community resource manager of the Inland Empire United Way, the district director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the senior district executive of the Boy Scouts of America.
