Cal Poly Pomona welcomes its largest ever incoming class in the fall of 2019, making parking and transportation tips especially valuable for those commuting to our campus. As classes begin on Thursday, Aug. 22, here are a few helpful guidelines.
- The academic year’s first couple of weeks are the busiest, so we recommend that you give yourself plenty of time to get to campus. If arriving between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., allow at least 60 to 90 minutes before your first class.
- Save time and gas by going directly to available parking rather than circling busy lots. UPD Parking and Transportation staff and message boards will direct you to available parking. Follow the directions given.
- Parking permits are required in all parking lots 24/7. Semester permits can be purchased online, or you can buy a one-day permit from a yellow kiosk or the information booth south of Parking Structure I. Visit our parking website for details.
- Temporary off-site parking is now available at Corporate Center Drive, just 10 minutes from the campus. The lot is operational Monday through Thursday with dedicated shuttle service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those days. Two buses on shuttle route E will connect from the new parking lot to the Student Services Building.
- Additional parking spaces have been added to the Express Lot located at Innovation Village and Temple Avenue. This lot is serviced by the D shuttle, which also provides a direct route to the Student Services Building.
- Construction was recently completed on both the westbound I-10 on- and off-ramps at Kellogg Drive, part of a Caltrans project adding an HOV lane to the freeway. The on-ramp opened on Aug. 14 after a 90-day closure and the off-ramp opened Aug. 21 after a 10-day closure. For more information about the construction, visit our Compass website.
- Use the CPP app to inform your decision about where to park. Sign up for parking alerts within the app and receive real-time notifications on parking lot availability during the first week of the semester. Download the app here.
- Riding the bus to the campus is simple, and it reduces our carbon footprint. Foothill Transit and Metro buses make convenient stops at the corner of Temple Avenue and South Campus Drive. From there, you can walk or ride the Bronco Express shuttle to the main part of the campus.
- The CPP Metrolink Connect shuttle provides a direct connection from the Pomona North Metrolink station to campus. For a free ride on the shuttle, simply show your Bronco ID as you board.
- Dedicated parking stalls, Bronco Bucks and permit reimbursement are available through the Rideshare program if you carpool, vanpool, bike, walk, ride the train or take the bus.
