Two national awards were recently given to the Cal Poly Pomona Women in Engineering Program.
The Women in Engineering ProActive Network (WEPAN) awarded the program the 2019 Women in Engineering Initiative Award. The honor was related to the Women in Engineering (WE) program’s recruitment and retention of girls and women.
CPP WE has increased first-time female enrollment in engineering from 13 percent to 21 percent and has served more than 7,000 students since its inception in 2013.
CPP WE was also named the 2019 Program of the Year by the Collaborative Network for Engineering and Computing Diversity (CoNECD), an award that honored a service activity that enhanced participation of diverse populations of students historically underserved in engineering.
