Caltrans has formally announced that the planned closure of the westbound I-10 on-ramp at Kellogg Drive will start on Tuesday, May 7. The on-ramp will be closed for roughly 90 days.
While both the east and westbound off-ramps at Kellogg Drive will remain open at this time, Caltrans plans to also close the westbound off-ramp for 10 days at a later date. The university has been assured the westbound off-ramp closure will occur after commencement ceremonies. The eastbound off-ramp will close for three months starting in the fall. Specific information regarding off-ramp closures will be shared as it becomes available.
As communicated to the campus previously, it is expected that the westbound on-ramp closure will increase traffic congestion leaving campus. University Police have made preparations to mitigate the closure and will direct campus traffic during peak hours.
The closure of the on-ramp will be a particular challenge during the commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 17, 18, and 19. While the university will be enhancing traffic control efforts for the ceremonies, please note that transportation on campus will be difficult on those days.
