Following a competitive national search, Ty Ramsower has been selected as the director of health and wellness services. His appointment is effective March 1.
“Ty was selected for this position due to his leadership ability and extensive experience working in higher education, particularly in the areas of health and wellness. He is knowledgeable of the Cal Poly Pomona community, and his approach is very student-centered,” said Leticia Gutierrez-Lopez, associate vice president for campus health and wellbeing.
Ramsower has more than 25 years of experience working within health and wellness services. He has served as the interim associate director, interim director of health and wellness, as well as the senior coordinator of health promotion at Cal Poly Pomona. He has also taken the lead on campus health and wellness initiatives, such as the Smoke-Free Campus Initiative and the CSU-wide Health Insurance Education Project.
He is also the current chair of the Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Council for the CSU and is sought out for guidance by other health center directors in the CSU.
“Ty clearly understands the importance of holistic wellbeing as it relates to student success and is able to engage his colleagues in the planning and discussions around integration of services to enhance the student experience,” Leticia Gutierrez-Lopez said.
Ramsower received his undergraduate degree in business administration at The Ohio State University and his master’s in health education from Kent State University.
