Don’t get caught off-guard by a road or lane closure. The newly launched Compass website aims to help students, faculty, staff and visitors get around traffic issues and construction work on campus.
In addition to alerts related to construction, the Compass webpage also contains advisories about impacts to the campus community stemming from malfunctions, repair projects and scheduled maintenance. The webpage is accessible on cellphones and other mobile devices.
“With the excitement of active construction on campus, we understand elements of disruption are inevitable,” said Walter Marquez, associate vice president of Facilities Planning & Management. “The Compass webpage is another tool we can use to keep everyone informed about construction and its current impacts.”
Other advisories that appear on the webpage can range from temporary power interruptions in buildings to elevator shutdowns for maintenance to fire sprinkler testing. An archive of alerts from 2018 is contained on the webpage.
Newsbreak alerts about construction impact and repair and maintenance work are generated by the Department of Facilities Planning & Management and emailed to the campus community. Facilities Planning & Management uses Newsbreaks and social media as the main outreach channels. The Compass webpage will augment those efforts.
The webpage also contains a campus map and links to Facilities Planning & Management and Parking & Transportation Services.
