The ground floor of the Biotechnology Building was evacuated and closed Wednesday after a sewage pipe backed up and flooded restrooms.
Workers from the Department of Facilities Planning and Management are cleaning and disinfecting the ground floor. The cleanup will continue through Thursday and the ground floor is expected to reopen on Friday. Work to unclog the backed up sewage pipe is continuing.
Restrooms on the three remaining floors of the Biotechnology Building are not in operation, and students and staff members should use restrooms in nearby buildings.
Students are urged to check with their academic department to check if classes are canceled or have moved to another room. The ground floor of the Biotechnology Building houses classrooms, labs and offices.
Staff members should confer with their department or supervisor to see if work operations will be moved to another location.
