Clay Fowler is taking over as Cal Poly Pomona’s new Social Media Editor after spending 15 years in the newspaper industry, where he led digital and social media projects.
He will oversee the university’s social media accounts, create content for social platforms, and contribute to Cal Poly Pomona’s print and online publications.
Fowler spent the last 11 years as a sports writer for the Southern California News Group, which includes the L.A. Daily News and Orange County Register among its 11 publications. His roles included covering UCLA basketball, the L.A. Kings and high school sports.
Beginning in 2013, Fowler served as the Southern California News Group’s sports features writer, leading the production of enterprise projects, including the digital and social media aspects.
A native of Texas, Fowler grew up in Dallas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked at the Killeen Daily Herald in Central Texas before joining the Southern California News Group in 2006.
