The time for deep fried foods, carnival rides and adorable farm animals returns, as the Los Angeles County Fair prepares to celebrate Cal Poly Pomona Day.
Students, staff and faculty can get into the fair for free with a coupon and a Bronco ID on Saturday, Sept. 23. Alumni can purchase tickets at a discounted rate through the fair’s website. Enter the code CALPOLYPOMONA.
Various departments on campus will have information booths on display from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the Blue Gate area. The parade will start at noon and feature representatives from student groups, Associated Students, Inc., university athletics, and the Children’s Center. Mr. and Ms. CPP will participate in the parade, as will President Soraya M. Coley.
The Huntley College of Agriculture joins the fun, exhibiting more than 250 animals including cows, sheep, goats and the university’s Arabian horses this year. Around 45 Cal Poly Pomona animals are expected to give birth while at the fair.
For those who need a ride to the fair, a free shuttle service will operate between campus and the fairgrounds from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The pickup location on campus will be on Oak Lane near Parking Structure One adjacent to Lot F9 and the information booth. The drop-off and pick-up spot at the fair will be the turnout on McKinley Avenue at Gate 1. Passengers should enter at the Green Gate. Times and locations are subject to change.
