LA’s housing crisis is one reason behind the huge increase in Latino homelessness

Alvaro Huerta, professor of urban planning and ethnic and women’s studies at Cal Poly Pomona, weighs in on how homelessness is on the rise for Latinos. Huerta points to how gentrification has not only negatively affected Latinos, but the local economy in general.

“Now that they see value in Eagle Park and Boyle Heights, they are coming back and displacing the same people that they left behind,”
