Cal Poly Pomona will celebrate Homecoming with carnival rides and games, sporting events, live music, giveaways, and a fireworks extravaganza on Saturday, Feb. 25.
The festivities begin at noon with a carnival featuring a Ferris wheel, giant slide, paratrooper ride, a giant swing and opportunities to test your skills at multiple carnival games. Danny’s Farm will bring their petting zoo featuring horses, goats and other animals; and the equestrian team will show their horses.
Broncos can cheer on the highly-ranked baseball team as it faces Cal State Dominguez Hills on Scolinos Field at noon in the first game of a double-header. University President Soraya M. Coley is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Cal Poly Pomona has finished third nationally in each of the last two years.
Food trucks will be parked near Bronco Commons throughout the afternoon, with tasty treats for purchase from Belly Bombz, The Habit, Me So Hungry, My Delight Cupcake Truck, the Poly Trolley, Street Kitchen and the Don Francisco mobile café.
As afternoon slides into evening, the homecoming concert will begin at 4 p.m. The Bronco women’s basketball team squares off against Sonoma State at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men’s game against Sonoma State at 7:30.
Crowning the celebration is the fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.
Admission is free for students, faculty and staff, but all attendees must register to get wristbands for the activities. Alumni, family members, community members and friends can purchase wristbands for $12 on the Homecoming website. Parking Structure 2 is closest to the festivities, and parking permits will be required.
