The university and surrounding areas have seen an increase in mosquito activity, and West Nile Virus has been identified on campus as well as other areas within the San Gabriel Valley. In response, the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito Abatement District has posted notices on campus advising simple precautions to protect against mosquitos.
