Cal Poly Pomona will make some changes to faculty, staff, student and visitor parking to make way for the planned construction of a new Student Services Building.
Lot C will be closed effective June 13. The majority of faculty and staff parking will be relocated to Lots F4 and F8. A temporary information booth will be set up in Lot F8 this summer to assist visitors to campus. Entry to Lot F4 is available off of University Drive and Lot F8 from Red Gum Lane.
Mike Biagi, director of parking and transportation services, says efforts are being made to keep the campus community informed about the upcoming changes.
“We will have information posted on the PTS website,” he says. “We will send out social media notifications and specific, targeted emails to groups impacted by the changes. There will also be ample signage directing drivers to the appropriate parking areas.”
Student parking will be available in all other lots, including Parking Structure 1. Overflow lots 1 and 2 are closed for the summer. The university’s second parking structure, located in what was formerly Lot K next to iPoly High School, will be completed in early August.
Parking Structure 2 will include 1,825 spaces, as well as electric vehicle charging stations and secured bicycle storage. The structure was built just one floor above ground level to preserve views in the area.
Construction of the Student Services Building is expected to be completed in fall 2018.
“Please keep in mind that all of the changes we are making will ultimately make things better for our students, faculty and staff,” Biagi says. “The new Student Services Building (being built in Lot C) will be a tremendous resource for students. The faculty and staff who work in the building and hold meetings and conduct business there will find the accommodations to be very inviting.”
