Cal Poly Pomona has selected a new vice president to lead Administrative Affairs, the university division that provides a diverse selection of services including police, facilities maintenance and construction, human resources, student accounting and finance.
Danielle Manning, a senior administrator at Suffolk University in Boston, will serve as vice president for administration, finance, and strategic development for Cal Poly Pomona. Her appointment begins Aug. 1.
Manning says she was drawn to Cal Poly Pomona because it is a university with a strong tradition that is beginning to plot out the next phase of its future.
“Cal Poly Pomona is an incredibly vibrant institution and I am excited to be a part of this dynamic university,” Manning says. “The campus’ progress in recent years is impressive and its planned growth and emerging vision makes the vice president role very attractive.
“My primary goal for Administrative Affairs is to be a strong partner and essential resource in helping the university reach its entrepreneurial aspirations and strategic goals, while maintaining its educational excellence and service to its students.”
In her capacity as treasurer and senior vice president for finance and administration at Suffolk, Manning acts as chief financial officer and administrative officer, overseeing accounting, facilities, human resources, risk management, and more.
She has also served as director of financing programs for the Massachusetts Health & Educational Facilities Authority, a semi-independent state agency that provided financing and services for non-profit organizations. She’s held administrative positions at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Clark University, both located in Worcester, Mass.
“I’m so pleased that Ms. Manning is joining us at Cal Poly Pomona,” says University President Soraya M. Coley. “She brings a wealth of experience with her and has shown herself to be a capable and insightful administrator. I know her talents will have great impact here.”
Manning holds a bachelor’s degree in English and an MBA from Clark University, and an MPA from Harvard. She is a member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers and the board of directors of the Boston Consortium for Higher Education.
