To honor accomplishments by faculty, nominations will be accepted starting Jan. 12 for the 2016 Provost’s Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarly and Creative Activities, and Service.
The awards are open to all faculty members, librarians, counselors, and coaches who have been with Cal Poly Pomona for at least five years and demonstrate a sustained level of achievement in the area of the award. An individual is eligible to receive the award in each area only once.
Because the awards honor achievement, a nominee’s history of accomplishments will be considered in one of these three principal areas:
- Teaching: Proven performance in the classroom, innovative teaching methods and student improvement
- Service: Outstanding contributions to the university, department or college
- Scholarly and Creative Activities: Research and other creative accomplishments
Nominations may be submitted through Feb. 5 at 5 p.m. by any person or organization, including students, staff, faculty colleagues, administrators and the Alumni Association. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominations statements of two pages should be submitted to provostsawards@cpp.edu. For more information, go to the Provost’s Awards website.
Recipients of the awards will be announced on April 27.
Rewards for the winners include $3,000 for the Scholarly and Creative Activity Award, $3,000 for the Service Award and $5,000 for the Teaching Award, a plaque, and inscription of the recipients’ names on a permanent wall in the University Library.
Provost Sylvia Alva will present the awards during Commencement in June.
In the winter quarter of the following academic year, the recipients will be honored as the keynote speakers of the Provost’s Awards Symposium.
