Cal Poly Pomona will conduct a quarterly test of its Safety Alert System on Thursday, Jan. 28, at about 11 a.m.
All enrolled students will receive a Safety Alert message. Faculty and staff are also included in Thursday’s test.
The Safety Alert System sends messages to cell phones, home and office phones, email, and the university’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Campus-owned computers will also receive notifications that fill the monitor. To remove it, click on the “Acknowledge” button on the screen.
ABOUT THE TEST
During an emergency or urgent situation, the Safety Alert System sends out messages to phones, email, text/SMS and TTY/TDD devices. In order to receive the messages, faculty, staff and students need to provide up-to-date contact information in BroncoDirect.
The university tests the Safety Alert System once each quarter to familiarize the campus community with this important communication vehicle, as well as to train staff in using the system. The alerts are sent only during emergencies and scheduled tests, and never for routine messages.
