Assistant Hospitality Management Professor Linchi Kwok weighs in on the summer travel outlook. “I feel very positive about the travel and tourism industry for the summer,” he says. “Lower gas price will encourage Americans to take more road trips. Stronger dollars in the foreign exchange market also help boost the outbound travel for Americans because more Americans find trips to Asia and Europe much more affordable than before. These two factors are very positive for both business travelers and leisure travelers with families.” Kwok also mentions that tourists from mainland China will continue to visit, benefiting from the new visa agreement between the United States and China.
