Community members can support Cal Poly Pomona’s mission to provide a quality education to students while sampling cuisine and spirits at the eighth annual Southern California Tasting & Auction.
Attendees at the Sunday, May 3, event will be able to a get taste of a variety of restaurants, including new tasting partners Corner Bakery Café and Dripp and Expresso Republic, both in Chino Hills, La Verne’s Pappas Artisanal, Claremont’s Vom Fass and I Like Pie Bake Shop, and Victoria Garden’s Brio Tuscan Grill and Sugar Babies.
Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen, located in Downtown Disney, has participated in the event since its inception. The Southern California Tasting & Auction also will feature other returning partners such as Southern Wine & Spirits, Slater’s 50/50, Lucille’s Smokehouse, Applebee’s, 90 Pacifica in Irvine, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Pine Heaven Café, RA Sushi, Pacific Palms RED Restaurant, Tilted Kilt, Alosta Brewing Co., Dale Bros. Brewing, and The Historic Galleano Winery, among others.
Cal Poly Pomona’s own will participate, featuring Poly Trolley, Brew Works, Horsehill Vineyards – Rossana, Kellogg West Conference Center & Hotel, The Farm Store at Kellogg Ranch and The Restaurant at Kellogg Ranch.
Besides gourmet delights, guests will have the opportunity to taste a variety of wines and beers, enjoy live entertainment, and participate in live and silent auctions.
The live auction will feature one-of-a-kind items provided by Cal Poly Pomona to benefit the university. The auction company Bang the Gavel will partner to provide a professional auctioneer, accounting staff, and a large range of inventory for public bidding. Donors of auction items include Wine & Canvas, a business owned by Cal Poly Pomona graduates Marlee and Zachary Schroll.
Kenny Sara & The Sounds of New Orleans will perform on the main stage, while students from the music department will share their talents in the Aratani Japanese Garden.
Horses from the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center also will make an appearance.
The Southern California Tasting & Auction will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale and discounted to $45 each until Feb. 28. Starting March 1, tickets will be $60.
Registration is open for the public, tasting partners and volunteers 21 and over. There is no registration fee for tasting partners.
