Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics has unveiled a new visual identity and it includes logos with a sleek, modern look that all Broncos – past, current and future – can be proud of.
“During the 75th anniversary celebrations last year, we celebrated Cal Poly Pomona traditions and successes,” University President Dr. J. Michael Ortiz said at Fall Conference on Monday. “Intercollegiate Athletics has certainly been a part of those success stories and is now looking at the future and what those next 75 years will look like. I’m excited to unveil a new look for Bronco Athletics – one that is bold, modern and magnificent. The new athletics logo will help represent all Broncos of the past, present and future. ”
Ortiz first revealed the new athletics identity to the faculty and staff at his Fall Conference speech on Monday. Then on Tuesday, new students celebrated the athletics rebranding at the Welcome Week Pep Rally in Kellogg Gym as ABC7 documented the event.
The updated identity includes a redesigned athletics web site – broncoathletics.com – which has a modern appearance and is compatible with all mobile devices. As the Broncos’ 10 Intercollegiate Teams transition their uniforms and apparel to include the new identity, the on-campus University Bookstore already features products with the updated athletics logo.
With 14 national titles to the Cal Poly Pomona name, certainly there is incredible history tied to the Broncos’ previous logo mark. In looking at the new visual identity, the Broncos have created iconic marks that connect the legacy of the past to the promise of the program’s future.
Through its history, the Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics program has excelled at the regional and national levels of competition. The 2014 fall sports have started their seasons in tremendous fashion, including the undefeated men’s soccer team moving up to No. 22 in the national poll.
In the social media channels, the Broncos have chosen #WeAreCPP as a unifying hashtag for the 2014-15 seasons and beyond. As an aside, the university has a new showcase page located at weare.cpp.edu.
