An electrical fire in the University Library resulted in the building being evacuated Monday afternoon, but no injuries or serious damage was reported.
University Police were first alerted to smoke alarms going off on the first floor of the building at 3:50 p.m., and evacuation procedures began immediately.
Los Angeles County fire crews responded and located a small fire in an electrical panel controlling an elevator and extinguished it by 4:30 p.m.
The library will remain closed until the smoke can be vented, which is expected to take 45 minutes. Parking Lot C has also been closed to vehicle entry to leave room for fire crews.
