(Update: The deadline to submit videos is now Monday, May 12.)
If you only had six seconds to tell your Cal Poly Pomona experience, how would you do it?
If you use Vine, Instagram or post videos to YouTube, you can share your story and possibly win $750.
The 75th Anniversary video contest is looking for videos that show “Your Cal Poly Pomona Experience” on YouTube, Instagram or Vine. Each media has a different time limit: six seconds for Vine, 15 seconds for Instagram, and YouTube Video submissions need to be less than three minutes.
The possibilities for videos are endless. It could be a testimonial of how Cal Poly Pomona has changed your life, a video about a meaningful class project, a club that has made an impact on you, an event, or a top 10 list of the campus’ best food or study spots.
“We hope the campus community can come closer together and show how Cal Poly Pomona has enabled them to grow and achieve their goals,” says Lindsey Bistline, multimedia designer and developer and one of the contest judges. “It also allows us to highlight the university’s growth as a polytechnic school, a trend we hope to continue for the next 75 years.”
In addition to nearly $1,000 in prize money, aspiring videographers can look forward to showing off their creativity and skills. The winning videos could be featured on the university’s website and in the 75th anniversary newsletter, which reaches over 60,000 people.
Creativity is key when it comes to videography, and Trevor Henderson, multimedia consultant at MediaVision and a contest judge, looks forward to seeing the entries.
“I know there are a lot of students out there with amazing talent when it comes to video creation,” he says. “Because there is no major that directly supports video I think this talent remains hidden for the most part. This contest is a great chance for these hidden talents to be showcased to the whole campus.”
The contest is sponsored by the Office of Public Affairs, in collaboration with MediaVision and ASI Gas Creative Group.
All entries are due by 11:59 p.m. on April 28. For complete rules and to enter, visit the 75th Anniversary website
