For the second year in a row, Cal Poly Pomona’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter was awarded the ASCE L.A. Section Outstanding Student Chapter Award. Ten other universities were in the running, including Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and USC.
Qualifications for the award were based on reviewing the chapter’s activities and achievements earned during that year. Cal Poly Pomona’s chapter listed 64 activities, highlighting the development of community service and outreach events, an increase in membership value (a restaurant discount card for members and a profession development workshop), and development of the club leadership through its Outstanding Officer Nominations program , according to Alan Huynh, president of ASCE Cal Poly Pomona student chapter.
