PolyCentric will be upgrading its design and infrastructure in a few weeks, improving the way stories and photos are displayed and organized. The changes are part of the university’s web redesign project, whose goal is to better serve the needs of students, visitors, faculty and staff.
The changes will allow readers to:
- View PolyCentric on any device – desktop computer, tablet and smartphone
- Quickly access related resources and previous news articles
- Browse for stories by topic
- Discover the most popular posts
- Connect with the university’s social media profiles
- Highlight photos and videos
- Share stories and photos with their social media networks
In addition, the upgraded infrastructure will allow PolyCentric staff to more quickly update the news website, as well as include multimedia elements.
Another change will affect event listings. The new PolyCentric will utilize the university’s Events Calendar, highlighting featured events on the home page. On the current news site, event listings are a duplication of the weekly PolyUpdates weekly email for faculty and staff. (For now, PolyUpdates will remain unchanged.) Read more about the changes to the Events section and how it affects the submission process.
Popular sections – News, Announcements, Picture of the Day and Achievements – will remain and have an improved look and feel.
Two new pages of note: The Browse by Topic page will organize stories by subject, from agriculture to campus notices to students and campus life. The Social Media Directory will list the university’s official social media profiles, as well as those of colleges and departments.
The PolyCentric redesign is a collaboration among staff members in the Office of Public Affairs, I&IT Web Development and MediaVision. For questions and feedback, email polycentric@cpp.edu.
