The upcoming redesign of PolyCentric news will feature a number of changes designed to take advantage of the university’s master Events Calendar.
PolyCentric currently has an events page that lists user-submitted events. In the redesign, PolyCentric’s Events link will directly take readers to the university’s master Events Calendar. In addition, the new PolyCentric home page will display four upcoming featured events, directly pulling from the university’s Events Calendar.
Currently, the event listings in PolyCentric are emailed to faculty and staff through PolyUpdates, a weekly aggregation of campus news, events and announcements. Events and announcements submitted to PolyUpdates will continue to be published in the weekly email to faculty and staff. Only announcements will continue to be duplicated in PolyCentric.
To submit an event to the Events Calendar (also called master calendar), go to www.cpp.edu/calendar/add-event.shtml and fill out the required information. Your submission will be reviewed by the Office of Student Life & Cultural Centers before it is published.
If you have questions regarding the master calendar, use the Campus Calendar Contact Form.
The change will provide a number of benefits:
- Event listings will be relevant to a general audience. Currently, PolyCentric events are tailored to faculty and staff.
- With a common calendar, people should be able to more easily find accurate event information.
- More events will be accessible to viewers.
- A single calendar streamlines the process for organizers when promoting their event.
