The attempted theft occurred about 2 p.m. in lot F-2 near the dorms. A student reported that he was sitting in his car with a relative when a man approached from behind, opened the back door of the student’s car and grabbed his laptop off the seat. The student confronted the man as he walked toward a waiting vehicle. The man dropped the laptop in the ensuing altercation and fled from the area.
The man was described as black and in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build. He had a light amount of facial hair and his head may have been shaved. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, a dark-green hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans. Based on this description, police believe he is the same individual responsible for previous thefts in buildings 2, 3 and 7 in February and April 2013.
The man’s vehicle was described as a dark-green four-door sedan. It was last seen heading on University Drive toward Kellogg Drive.
