Cal Poly Pomona is again ranked among the best public universities in the West, according to the 2014 rankings from U.S. News & World Report. The university is sixth among non-doctorate-granting institutions. In addition, the College of Engineering has one of the top-ranked undergraduate programs.

Among both public and private regional universities, Cal Poly Pomona tied for 33th in the West, an area that comprises 15 states from California to Texas and Alaska to Hawaii. It is the third highest CSU on the list, following Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Cal State Long Beach.

U.S. News & World Report cited Cal Poly Pomona’s learn-by-doing approach to education: “A political science major, for example, may work on a project at city hall, or a journalism student may intern at a newspaper to get hands-on experience outside the classroom.”

The College of Engineering was ranked 22nd nationally among non-doctorate-granting institutions and second among public universities in the West. The college produces one of every 14 engineers in California.

The College of Business Administration was also listed in the Best Business Schools roundup, which includes about 600 graduate institutions.
