University Police are advising the campus community to take extra safety precautions in the wake of a strong-arm robbery that occurred near campus.
At about 1:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 5, a male passenger exited a public bus at Valley Boulevard east of Kellogg Drive. He was walking toward Pomona when the suspect approached him from behind, struck him in the head, grabbed his wallet and cellular telephone, and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not a Cal Poly Pomona student or employee. The robbery took place off campus, and the Pomona Police Department is investigating the incident.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 30’s, with a shaved head, and possibly wearing a blue shirt.
