Cal Poly Pomona’s most talented songwriters will get a chance to perform their own works at a concert.
Student composers will perform original rock, hip hop, pop and electronica songs at the 10th Songwriter Showcase on May 16-17, accompanied by producers, musicians and vocalists from the music department.
Music Professor Arthur Winer started the showcases in 2007, and most have sold out.
Student songwriters whose works will be performed are Megan Benavente, Matthew Berger, Kyle Berzle, Patrick Braddock, Ethan Breheim, Scott Carmack, DeVante Carpenter, Melinda Echevarria, Jonathon Gould, Adrienne Harwell, Joseph Jefferson, Lacey Johnson, Michael Kemp, Simone Ledward, George Lewis III, Katrina Mailo, Ryan McCoy, Madison Nocon and Sarah Watson.
In addition, alumni Candice Brown, Matt Matsumoto, Tyrone Stokes and Alyssa Wine will perform as part of the music department’s Year of the Alumni celebration.
The concerts will begin at 8 p.m. each night in the Music Recital Hall (Building 24). Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for students, and are available at the Publicity Office (Building 24, room 188) or at http://csupomona.tix.com. Proceeds from the concert will help fund scholarships in the music industry studies program.
