In response to traffic safety concerns at Cal Poly Pomona, the quarterly Pizza with the Presidents will expand to include traffic safety forums on Thursday, April 18. Pizza with the Presidents will move to 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., so the university community can take part in Campus Forums on Vehicle, Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety scheduled immediately before and after in the Bronco Student Center’s Ursa Major Suite.
Traffic Safety Forum: Vehicle, Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety
Two forums specifically addressing traffic management and safety will be held from 10 to 11:30 a.m., and again from 12:30 to 2 p.m. A short presentation will start each event, followed by facilitated discussions.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to share their comments, concerns and possible solutions to issues related to cars, bikes, pedestrians, skateboards, sidewalks, roadways, parking, lighting etc. Representatives from the Division of Student Affairs; ASI; Facilities Planning and Management; Parking & Transportation Services; and faculty will help identify areas of concern and record comments.
Participants can drop in to provide feedback or stay as long as they wish. Those unable to attend will have the opportunity to share their concerns and ideas online. Details about online submissions will be released in a PolyCentric article next week.
A summary of the discussions will be posted online in early May.
Pizza with the Presidents
In between the two traffic safety forums, the traditional Pizza with the Presidents will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Students can share what’s on their minds and pose questions on any topic to university President Michael Ortiz and ASI President Chris Osuala. To start up the Q&A, students will be asked to fill out a comment card.
Students can also submit their questions in advance through the university’s Facebook page or Twitter by using #askOrtiz or #askASI. The @calpolypomona account will tweet answers in real-time. Be sure to follow @calpolypomona, @ASIPresident, #askOrtiz and #askASI on Twitter.
Free pizza and drinks will be provided from 11:30 to 12:30. For more information, call (909) 869-3342.
