In an effort to improve pedestrian safety and increase available campus parking, the university has made changes to streets surrounding the parking structure.
Magnolia Lane, which runs along the north side of the structure, is now closed to vehicle traffic between Red Gum Lane and the parking structure exit. The remainder of Magnolia remains unaffected. The closure is expected to reduce the number of vehicles using Red Gum, which is often crossed by many pedestrians.
Oak Lane, which runs along the south side of the structure, has been converted to a one-way street between Cypress Lane and University Drive. Traffic will now travel only eastward toward University Drive. The elimination of the westbound lanes made room for 70 new parking spots along that section of roadway (between lots F 10 and F5). The new spots will require a standard parking permit.
