In his weekly video message, President Ortiz discussed the recent decision by local agencies to restrict parking on Temple Avenue, between University Drive and the City of Walnut boundary, beginning on April 1.
Administration officials have reviewed the many messages, referrals and resolutions that have been submitted. In addition, many groups on campus are meeting to talk about the parking and traffic management concerns.
The president also announced that Cal Poly Pomona will eventually move to the semester calendar. The change might not occur until the end of the decade, but planning is beginning now to ensure a smooth transition. The decision was made in consultation with the chancellor’s office. The other five CSU campuses currently on the quarter system will also switch to the semester calendar.
Finally, President Ortiz spoke about the Southern California Tasting & Auction on May 5. It’s the annual event that raises money for scholarships and features wine, food and music. Early-bird pricing is still available, and those who purchase by March 31 will be eligible for a second drawing for a free guest pass.
