The staff of Cal Poly Pomona’s University Housing Services has brought home 10 awards from a regional conference in Irvine that recognizes student-housing programs at colleges and universities.
About 500 people attended the Western Association of College and University Housing Officers’ Southern RAP conference at the University of California, Irvine, on Nov. 17, including 60 student and professional staff members from Cal Poly Pomona.
Three of the programs University Housing Services developed for its student residents garnered “Top 10” awards for the second year in a row.
In addition, Housing Services staff received the following seven awards:
- Top Community Building Program;
- Top Educational & Professional Success program;
- Top Environmental/Sustainable program
- Top Passive Program;
- Top Overall Program;
- Most Philanthropic;
- and the Institutional Spirit Award.
The staff was also recognized for raising more than $1,300 for two charities. One offers after-school programs for children throughout the state, and the other organizes a career/higher education fair for youth living in Maywood.
