University police are investigating a robbery that occurred Monday afternoon near Parking Lot B.
A student told police that he was approached by a white male in his early 20s while walking on the sidewalk between the track at Kellogg Field and Scolinos Field. The man asked questions about Cal Poly Pomona and how to enroll, then asked to borrow a cell phone to call his father. He began to dial the phone, punched the student and ran away with the phone, police said.
The robber is described about 5-foot-9, with blonde spiked hair and a thin build. He was wearing a black shirt and dark jeans. The description is similar to a man described in a November 2011 robbery in the same area.
