A female student walking alone on the sidewalk between the track and the baseball field was accosted and robbed, University Police reported.
The crime occurred about 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2 while the victim was heading from Lot B, on the southern end of campus, toward the Residential Suites. A man quickly approached, slapped her face and grabbed her purse from her shoulder. When the robber discovered she had no cash, he threw the purse down and fled on foot, heading east on the sidewalk toward Lot B. He left the lot shortly after the incident, possibly in a silver Honda Accord sedan.
The victim described her attacker as a white male, about 5-foot-6, with long, blond, unkempt hair. He is about 18 to 25 years old, very thin, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and skateboard-style shoes.
Members of the campus community are reminded to travel with others when practical and notify authorities immediately of any suspicious persons or situations. To call campus police, use any Code Blue callbox or dial (909) 869-3070 from a cell phone. (Cell phone 9-1-1 calls are routed to the California Highway Patrol).
¿It is important, while walking, to focus on your surroundings,¿ University Police Chief Mike Guerin says. ¿You may notice things that could represent a threat.¿
