[Updated – Sept. 19, 9 p.m.] Two students
were injured Monday, Sept. 19, in separate incidents during Welcome Week
activities at Cal Poly Pomona.
A student
was injured about 2:45 p.m. in an inflatable bounce house. Medic One ambulance responded
to the call and took him to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center as a
precaution upon his request.
Later, a
student volunteer was found initially unresponsive in another inflatable bounce
house at about 3:15 p.m. He was airlifted to County USC Medical Center and released later that evening.
Welcome Week
is a four-day residential orientation program for students who live in the
Residential Suites and Residential Halls. The students were participating in an
obstacle course that has been a part of Welcome Week activities for several
years.
