More than 14,000 free hot dogs will be served Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the 28th annual Hot Dog Caper, the campus’ beloved welcome-back tradition.
Students, faculty and staff will gather in University Park to enjoy a free lunch of hot dogs, chips, ice cream and Pepsi products. The event will include music by DJ Papa Burgundy, games, and fun activities promoting Bronco spirit.
Commander Chuck Street, whose voice is heard from the sky on radio station KIIS-FM, will land his Pepsi helicopter on the grass next to Union Plaza, kicking off the event at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served until 1:15 p.m.
This year’s Hot Dog Caper logo, which includes a farmer and a tractor, reflects the rich agricultural heritage of the campus.
The event is made possible through the partnership of Cal Poly Pomona Foundation, the Pepsi Bottling Group, AT&T, First Class Vending, Associated Students Inc., and Facilities Planning & Management. A team of nearly 500 volunteers, staff, administrators and athletes, help organize and run the event.
