Two students were treated for smoke inhalation after a small field fire burned about 3 acres of Spadra Ranch, an off-campus plot of land used by the College of Agriculture near Pomona Boulevard and Temple Avenue.
The fire broke out at about 2:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9, as College of Agriculture students used equipment to bale the field. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Los Angeles County fire department contained the fire by about 3:20 p.m. using fire engines and a water dropping helicopter. The two students were transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center as a precaution.
