Nearly 25 percent of the Cal Poly Pomona student-athlete population earned California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic honors for 2010-11.
To earn All-Academic status, student-athletes must maintain a grade point average of 3.40 or higher over a course load of at least 36 quarter units. They also must be a letter winner on one of the 10 intercollegiate athletic teams.
The women’s track and field squad featured 10 recipients: Cynthia Acedo, Tiffany Dinh, Sarah Gulli, Johanna Murray, Lauren Parr, Diana Zapata, Anne Eagleton, Denise Salceda, Elizabeth Soria and Nicolle Spann.
Forty-three Cal Poly Pomona student-athletes received the conference’s academic honor, the most for the Broncos since the start of the CCAA award program in 2005-06 and the third highest in the league this year. Ahead of the Broncos in the rankings were UC San Diego (84) and Cal State Monterey Bay (47).
The Broncos’ volleyball team, which combined for a department-best grade point average of 3.31 during the 2010-11 school year, proved to be well-represented on the CCAA All-Academic list as well. Seven players were featured: Courtney Alberi, Camille Bulot, Katie Colin, Taylr Kreutziger, Diana Lake, Sinead Palmer and Lindsey Poulos.
Two of the Broncos’ five NCAA Division II All-Americans of this past season received CCAA All-Academic distinction: Reyana Colson of the women’s basketball squad and Lance Walkington of men’s track and field.
