President Ortiz looks back on the many accomplishments in 2010-11 during his weekly video message, the final video of the academic year. Highlights from this year include five All-American athletes and Galactic Expedition winning two awards at the 2011 Rose Parade.
Provost Marten denBoer announces the three faculty recipients of the inaugural Provost’s Awards for Excellence. The teaching award goes to Tiny Hartney, biological sciences; the service award goes to Barbara Burke, chemistry; and the scholarship and creative activity award goes to Elise Wirtschafter, history. The faculty members will be honored at their colleges’ respective commencement ceremonies.
The president calls attention to the four Outstanding Staff Awards recipients. They are: Cassandra Reyes, I⁢ Sandra P. Cain, Foundation Dining Services; German Reyes, facilities management; and Victoria Key, communications department. They will be honored on Staff Appreciation Day on June 15.
Ortiz also recognizes Chief Information Officer Stephanie Doda, who is retiring after 22 years at Cal Poly Pomona. A reception will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Manor House.
